Regarding: presentation to B.C. Legislature MLAs to raise awareness - to be science, findings must be verifiable and replicable

Dear Greta,

Thank you for travelling to our country to share really important truthful scientific information so that citizens of Canada can understand where we are heading on current trends. Perhaps the next time you are in British Columbia, you will be able to accept the request for you to address the B.C. Legislative Assembly (BCLA).

Like you, many years ago, a famous Canadian, Ivan Fellegi, Statistics Canada's Chief Statistician, traveled to Europe to share information on how citizens can intelligently participate in setting priorities - by understanding where we are heading on current trends. To ensure that information about current trends is grounded in reality, Statistics Canada implemented policies and assigned accountabilities with clear steps to safeguard integrity such as verification and replication of findings.

Unfortunately, B.C.'s official statistical agency has yet to implement policies and assign accountabilities with clear steps to safeguard integrity. There is agreement that there is a problem (government documents show that B.C.'s official statistical agency can and has disseminated unsupported numbers in the past) but as yet no solution to safeguard integrity has been agreed upon nor implemented. Of course, a lack of integrity is an opportunity for deception.

You may not be aware but B.C. has been referred to by some as the most corrupt jurisdiction in Canada See: Is British Columbia the corruption capital of Canada? (The Globe and Mail, June 29, 2018, https://www.theglobeandmail.com/opinion/article-is-british-columbia-the-corruption-capital-of-canada/).

Greta, since you are dedicated to raising awareness and you understand the importance of referring to reality and since you are already busy and unable to address the BCLA, I would like to offer to address the BCLA and advocate for the implementation of policies and accountabilities, similar to those implemented by Statistics Canada, to safeguard the integrity of information used to set priorities.

In this manner, citizens of BC may also become informed and part of Canada's informed population.

Please let me know if you will endorse my request as this will be at least a small part of opening the doors to informed decision making.

Thank you, and good luck in your endeavors,

William Warren Munroe
